Winteringham W.I held their meeting on Thursday 15th May 2008.
Mrs Chris Wood was in the chair and she welcomed 28 members.
Chris gave a report on the Federation A.G.M. at Cleethorpes and urged members to attend future A.G.M.s as they were excellent meetings with very good speakers.
Members were updated with information from the Federation and correspondence received was read.
The Spring Meeting of the Trent Group is on Tuesday 20th May at St Andrews. The Speaker is Pam Bosworth - A Flight of Fashion. Numerous members have purchased tickets for this event.
Members were reminded that the June meeting will be an outing to Doddington Hall on Thursday June 26th. The president then welcomed Tom from Lowna Dairies who told the members how he came to be one of the owners of Lowna Dairies. They now have 100 goats and manufacture cheeses, yoghurt and ice cream which is supplied to over 120 restaurants in this area.
Tom told the members about the visit from the Duchess of Cornwall and how his wife had managed to obtain permission to take him on a visit to Prince Charles’ Organic Farm as a surprise for his sixtieth birthday. They have also been to a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.
Sandra Wilkinson gave a vote of thanks on behalf of the members.
The hostesses, Pam Wells and Jackie & Heather Bateman served the members with a welcome cup of tea or coffee and the draw for the mystery parcels took place. The winners were Barbara Button, Chris Wood and Marianne Ogg. The Competition for ’A Pretty Desert Dish was judged by Tom 1st Faye McNeil 2nd Christine Hammond and 3rd Mary Christoffersen.
